The Case of Human Flesh

Oh Wonchun, a Korean-Chinese man, killed a woman and cut her body into 350 pieces on April 1, 2012, in Suwon Korea. The victim contacted police while she was being held, but the police dillydallied and failed to respond in time. Wonchun was caught the next day. Suwon District Court sentenced him to death, in part for his cruelty, but primarily because it was determined that trafficking in human flesh was the purpose of his crime. However, because there was no clear evidence of the existence of a market for human flesh, his sentence was reduced to life in prison.
